Bengaluru: Express trains might start making a stop at Byappanahalli railway station soon to facilitate those commuters who may want to hop into a Metro from the Metro station close by.
D.H. Shankaramurthy, Chairman of the Joint House Committee on railways, said he would discuss the issue with the South Western Railways.
“The Metro Station is very close to the railway station at Byappanahalli. If commuters living in areas connected by the Metro can alight at Byappanahalli, it will help decongest the city,” he said.
“It is only a small administrative decision that the Railways need to make. There might be a need to develop some infrastructure at the Byappanahalli Railway Station later in this regard, but trains can start stopping there immediately,” he said.
He visited the work site of Vidhana Soudha underground metro station. The issue of shifting the Ambedkar statue was not discussed as the High Court has passed an order and government needed to implement it, sources said.
