3 women hurt in rush for Aadhaar cards

Aadhaar cardsHyderabad: As the extended deadline for linking Aadhaar with LPG connection approaches, people are once again panicking.

On Wednesday, tension prevailed at an Aadhaar enrolment centre after several women got agitated and barged into the centre. Furniture and computers were damaged in the melee and three women had to be taken to a local hospital with mild injuries.

Police called in to control situation

Tempers at the Aadhaar centre at Shamshabad rose after some of the applicants were denied enrolment as their LPG connections were registered with a different gas agency than that designated at the centre. Police had to be called in to bring the situation under control.

Not only Shamshabad, a lot of other centres are also witnessing heavy rush but lack of infrastructure is playing spoilsport.

District officials toured several centres in the peripheral areas of the city on Wednesday.

B. Narsimha Reddy, district supplies officer, admitted there were problems in several centres.

“At some places kits are not available while at some there are no operators. We are trying to fix all these problems.”

With less than 10 days to go for the linkage deadline, a lot still needs to be done on the enrolment front.
