Hyderabad: Several students writing Intermediate examinations and their parents on Wednesday faced some anxious moments when they were caught in traffic jams while on their way to the examination centres in the city.
Traffic snarls were witnessed in areas like Kukatpally, Dilsukhnagar, Khairatabad and a few other areas. Fortunately, none of the students actually missed their exam because of the traffic slowdown. Most students wisely chose to start early, but had tense moments.
About 1.67 lakh students appeared for the Inter exam on Wednesday in 383 centres. Out of them about 1.01 lakh were in the peripheral areas of the city coming under Ranga Reddy district.
An overwhelming majority of the parents chose to drop their children at the examination centres resulting in a huge stress on the road traffic between 8 am and 9 am. Metro Rail works at various stretches compounded the problem.
B. Shiva Shanker Reddy, a parent who dropped his daughter at a centre in Khairatabad, said, “We knew there would be jams so we started early, but still I got a little nervous.”
